Can I have my cake and eat it too?
Rawlsian egalitarianism and communitarianism are at odds with each other. The former says that we cannot regard histories because of their sheer arbitrariness, but the latter says they are important in forming part of our identities!
Yet, communitarianism, in a specific example by Sandel on Southern segregationist, can easily be used to justify unjustness too.
I'm conflicted. How? Is there a way out?
